Projects

This project was inspired by the health challenges faced by workers in polluted environments such as landfills, construction sites, and mines. I designed and prototyped a wearable mask that combines air purification with IoT-based monitoring. The device uses accurate sensors to measure air quality in real time while also filtering harmful pollutants. I wrote a research paper that was published in the International Journal of Advanced Research and filed a design patent for the mask.Through this project, I gained hands-on experience in embedded systems, sensor calibration, prototyping, and technical writing. More importantly, I learned how engineering can directly improve lives in underprotected communities.

Alongside two peers, I designed a self-powered energy harvesting capsule that can be attached to animal collars. The capsule uses triboelectric nanogeneration to convert the kinetic energy from animal movement into electrical energy, powering sensors without the need for disposable batteries. This innovation has potential applications in livestock monitoring, enabling farmers to track the health and location of animals sustainably while reducing e-waste. Our work was recognized with a design patent filing. This project deepened my understanding of renewable energy, nanogeneration, and how small-scale engineering solutions can scale up to address global agricultural challenges.

I founded WEEN, a youth-led foundation with the motto “A Win for Everyone.” Our mission is to build awareness and create practical solutions for sustainable waste management. Through WEEN, I discovered my ability to blend engineering with leadership, mobilize communities, and manage real-world initiatives that go beyond the classroom.

Under WEEN, I led several impactful initiatives:

Social Media Campaigns: Directed a team of 5+ members to create posts and reels that reached over 12,000 viewers, spreading awareness about sustainability to younger audiences.

DropCycle Initiative: Installed PET collection bags made out of recycled PET bottles in societies, markets, salons, and offices. Collected over 10,000 plastic PET bottles while learning logistics, negotiating with shop owners, and raising community awareness.

Cleanup Drive at Mashai Meldi Mata Mandir Lake: Organized 50+ volunteers, collected over 500 kg of plastic waste, and distributed recyclable PET bags to encourage sustainable disposal.

P.E.T Talks 2025 Panel Conference: Hosted WEEN’s first online panel featuring industry leaders, including executives from Reliance Industries and APR Bharat, attended by 60+ students and professionals. This event honed my moderation and public speaking skills and gave me insights into India’s plastic recycling industry.

As part of the Inspirit AI program (founded by Stanford/MIT alumni), I completed 40+ hours of coursework in machine learning, neural networks, and AI ethics. My team project focused on addressing bias in large language models (LLMs). Using Python, we implemented bias-detection techniques, trained models, and applied evaluation metrics to improve fairness. Our final model achieved 80% accuracy, and I presented our results to an audience of 50+ peers and mentors. This project not only taught me the fundamentals of AI but also pushed me to think critically about the societal implications of technology.
